I obtained my doctorate in Education for Sciences ad Health at the Graduate Program in Education for Sciences ad Health at the UFRJ, with a component of international training at the Universidade Autônoma de Barcelona, Cataluña, Spain. I also have a M.Sc. and B.Sc in Biological Sciences at UFRJ and Bachelor´s degree in teacher Biology, also at UFRJ. I joined the Limnology Lab (Ecology Dept, Biology Institute) as a student in 2001 and as a Professor in 2011. My first steps in the Lab were related to Environmental Education in the context of the projects Ecolagoas and Pólen. In these projects I started off the research and the activities that today are the backbone of the lab´s work on Environmental Education. I currently supervise graduate students at the Graduate Program on Sciences and Education for Health and the one on Environmental Sciences and Conservation, and also on the Professional Masters of the national network PROFBIO. My research interests are related to the processes of formation of teachers, ecology teaching, environmental managament and education. I develop research projects related to the study of language in an educational context. I am interested in environmental issues related to climate change, conflicts in mining sites, and other themes related to socioecological impacts in Latin America and the role of public policies and educational practices that can promote social transformation.
