Nature, Sustainability and Gaia

Transdisciplinary approach that examines the relationship humankind-nature, integrating historical, philosophical, socioenvironmental, political and ecological perspectives. It examines drivers of planetary pressure such as climate change and the biodiversity crisis, as well as processes that promote transition to sustainability, as an antidote to those drivers of pressure. It investigates, particularly, tools use in socioecological transformation, such as ecosystem-based adaptation to climate change, ecological restoration, language and dialogue between distinct types of knowledge, and local to global policies related to the 2030 Agenda. Some of the studies in this research line are strictly theoretical, while others are developed on various rural, urban, forest and coastal-marine territories.
